Quality

A consistent, high quality experience for both instructors and the attendees is paramount, and that’s why tech support is built into our model. We remove all the burdens of logistics from instructors so they can focus on what they do best, creating and teaching.

Inclusivity

As a client, going to a studio is a significant barrier. LFH encourages a staged approach: 1) Join a class with video off 2) At a future class, turn video on 3) Join a class in person and bask in the glow of accomplishment. For instructors, we hope to attract all looks, bodies, genders, personalities, styles.

Fair Pay

We aim to find the perfect balance among: 1) Pricing for attendees across many financial situations 2) Pricing that allows attendees to show that they value their instructors and their content/service 3) A minimum for instructor pay that is fair (while always seeking to raise that)

FAQs

What qualifications are required?

You need to be someone who is already teaching in a physical studio or online with at least a small following that can be encouraged to book your initial classes. This ensures that you feel successful right away and have some friendly faces as you work through the initial kinks.

What equipment will I need?

A Mac or PC computer/laptop and a bluetooth headset at a minimum. We’ll chat with you and suggest things you might need to improve your internet connection or your teaching space. We’ll supply you with a Zoom account and other tools.

How else might I benefit from LFH?

  • Opportunity for client cross-pollination across instructors and digital studios. We will encourage differentiation such that people will want to take your class AND others, not OR!

  • A community of instructors to collaborate with and share common experiences. You will be connected to others via a Slack Community.

What will be my employment status as it relates to Lemon From Heaven, Inc.?

You will be an Independent Contractor (see this IRS page for info). We may revisit this in the future.

Can I teach through other studios and services at the same time?

Absolutely. Our agreement includes this clause:

“Contractor reserves the right to concurrently provide the same or similar services to other businesses and platforms, whether they are similar in nature to LFH or not. Such concurrent relationships are not required to be disclosed to LFH, but LFH’s confidential information should not be shared with other businesses or platforms.”

Are there more details about what Fair Pay means for me?

Together we will determine your pricing. The following fees will be applied to each paid booking:

  • Payment processor fee: 2.9% of price + $0.30

  • $1.00 fee for general costs to run the business

  • $0.35 for LFH Tech Support team & expenses

  • $1.00 Assistant Fee (for assisted classes only)

As an example, the group classes offered on our site are $12 per class, instructors receive $9 of that.

What about tips?

We are not opposed to the idea of tipping in general, but we are opposed to tips being used to compensate for low pay rates. So now we have not enabled tipping while we firmly establish our fair pricing and pay. We may revisit this in the future.

What is an assisted class?

For every class you offer, we will always:

  • do an audio/video check before each session.

  • check people into the video call from the Waiting Room.

For assisted classes, your LFH assistant will:

  • stay on the video call for the entire class

  • watch for latecomers and help participants with any technical issues during the class

  • monitor the chat and get your attention if someone has a question or comment

  • control your music, including sound levels and react to your cues to pause/change the music.

Do I have to teach the same format, style, content as what I’ve done most recently?

Definitely not! As long as you are qualified in that area, how and what you teach is all up to you. Try new things or resurrect content from your past!

Do I need my own insurance, licenses and certifications?

Yes. You agree to obtain and keep in full force professional liability insurance covering all of your services and LFH is not responsible for verifying that this obligation has been fulfilled. We will do our best to refer you to insurance vendors if needed. You shall also maintain any relevant required licenses and certifications.
