DOMONICK WEGESIN
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
- Mary Oliver's "Wild Geese"

Breathing for Anxiety
Dealing with a global pandemic is stressful. Dealing with social unrest is stressful. Facing an uncertain future is stressful. When your anxiety gets turned on by circumstances like these, it gets stuck in overdrive and you feel emotionally volatile. Things that normally you take in stride bother you. Your fuse is shorter and you get upset with loved ones.

You will learn simple, but powerful, breathing techniques that help quiet your body’s fight or flight response so that you feel calmer and sleep better. Take a 30-minute break and feel calm again.
Mindful Yoga Flow
Mindfulness helps you develop the ability to be present in each moment with greater acceptance of yourself and your experience. Domonick’s creative, breath-based flows train you to move through space with ease and grace, while staying firmly grounded.

Gentle Yoga
We spend so much of our lives racing from one thing to another. Even when we’re not physically racing, our minds may continue to mentally race. In this class you will practice slowing down, tuning in and being with each moment, without trying to race to the next. Domonick will share mindful meditation techniques as you move through restorative and gentle yoga poses. You will practice being with your body with greater appreciation and acceptance.

About Domonick

headshot_0009.jpg

I grew up on a farm in Indiana and am a real Nature boy at heart. I love my daily hikes in the redwoods here in the East Bay.

Before yoga I conducted cognitive neuroscience research at Columbia University in New York City.  The studies focused on the aging brain and the impact of aging on memory and executive functions, like attention. While at Columbia, I began studying yoga and mindfulness meditation. These practices helped me realize that fear had been a big player in my life, and continued to influence much of my decision-making. This insight and the practice of being mindful of when fear was present helped me to make decisions from a different place, from a place of love.

My background in dance (modern, jazz, contact improvisation and ballroom) informs my work.

Following my heart, I am now swimming in the beauty of movement through yoga and exploring the ever-fascinating mind-body-heart relationship. My life is enriched enormously by my husband, Steven, and our schnoodle, Sophie.
