why 49?
in the Buddhist tradition, after a person’s passing, the soul has 49 days to transition to the next life. the living can support in this process through prayer, ritual, and communal practices.
in the Jewish tradition, the 49 days after Passover and before Shavuot result in the counting of the Omer, a daily practice of reflection, meditation, and prayer connecting the body, mind and divine in preparation to receive the Torah.
we will ready ourselves for this 49 day practice much the same way as these traditions do, listening, moving, and reverberating with one another. we will build a nourishing ritual in relationship with each other.

Margi Young is the mastermind behind the original “30 days of mindfulness” which brought a community of over 700 folx together in a daily virtual mindfulness practice where we have modeled our “49 days…” from. She has so generously offered her template for us to share our version to the movement world to explore. Please visit Margi’s page to see her current teaching schedule. The “30 days…” is still available for recording purchase as well.
